Defendant appeals as of right from a July 18, 1983, judgment entered following a nonjury trial in the Court of Claims. The trial court found defendant liable under 42 USC 1983 for the suicide death of plaintiff's decedent, Alvin Hampton, which occurred on December 6, 1978, while decedent was serving a prison term at the Riverside Correctional Facility. The court awarded plaintiff $75,000, plus interest.
