Rajapakse Jayasinghe, a fifty-one-year-old male naturalized citizen from Sri Lanka, filed a Title VII action alleging that the Bethlehem Steel Corporation had denied him a promotion because of his sex and national origin, in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-2(a)(1) (1982).
