The defendant, Scott Rainey, Jr., was charged by a bill of information with the crime of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, a violation of La. R.S. 14:94. The defendant entered a plea of not guilty and proceeded to trial before the trial judge sitting without a jury on July 24, 1984. The trial judge found the defendant guilty as charged. On July 31, 1984, the court sentenced the defendant to serve eighteen months in the Rapides Parish...
