The defendant, Gerald Gonzalez, was charged by information with the crime of robbery in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-135 (a) (1).1 The defendant pleaded not guilty and was tried by a jury. He was found guilty as charged and the trial court committed him to the Connecticut correctional institution, Cheshire, for a period of three years.
