In 1978 Congress amended the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, 29 U.S.C. §§ 621 et seq., to raise the permissible minimum mandatory retirement age from 65 to 70. Age Discrimination in Employment Act Amendments of 1978, § 3(a), Pub.L. 95-256, 92 Stat. 189.
