In this action, based upon 42 U.S.C.A. § 1983, Wadhams, a former inmate in Virginia's prison system, sought compensatory and punitive damages for having been held seven days longer than he would have been if he had been given credit for seven days spent in a jail in Florida, before Virginia authorities obtained custody of him.
