After bitterly contested proceedings, a Probate Court judge granted the wife a divorce pursuant to G.L.c. 208, § 1B, divided the marital property in half, and ordered the husband to pay the wife $400 a week in alimony. Despite scrupulous and careful division of the marital property by the judge, we conclude that the financial arrangement, taken as a whole, did not adequately take into account traditional alimony considerations and resulted in an inequitable...
