Appellant, James Selma Knight, was indicted by the Fall 1983 term of the Macon County Grand Jury. The indictment charged appellant with the crimes of rape in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, and theft in the first degree. A trial by jury was commenced on November 7, 1983.
