MARTIN, Judge.

The dispositive issue on this appeal is whether the North Carolina court properly exercised jurisdiction in this interstate child custody dispute in view of the prior Texas order awarding custody. We hold that because Texas failed to substantially comply with the provisions of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act (UCCJA), North Carolina was not bound by the Texas order. We affirm the judgment of the District Court.
