John R. Kotts practiced law in Minnesota until the fall of 1981. Although his practice was general in nature, Kotts devoted much of his time to bankruptcy work. On October 20, 1981, while on business in California, Kotts claims to have suffered an angina attack. The record shows that Kotts was treated briefly, but there is no indication that he was unable to return to his practice in Minnesota.
