Defendant, James E. Robinson, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, MCL 750.84; MSA 28.279. At the conclusion of a bench trial held on November 10, 1983, defendant was found guilty of the lesser offense of felonious assault. MCL 750.82; MSA 28.277.
