The plaintiff brought this forcible entry and detainer action in the District Court, Lewiston, to recover possession of an apartment that he owned and that the defendant had occupied for about three years as a tenant at will. The defendant contended that the eviction was retaliatory, and that the plaintiff was therefore precluded from obtaining the relief he sought.
