In January 1984, appellant Shirley A. Smith was convicted of a handgun offense. She received a three-year sentence, all but four months suspended in favor of three years' probation. Among the conditions of probation were requirements that Smith report regularly to her probation agent, obey all laws, and participate in a drug screening program.
