This is a direct appeal from an order of the Juvenile Court of Thomas County terminating parental rights as to D. S., a boy who is now three years old.1

On December 4, 1981, the mother of D. S. was arrested for the murder of her infant daughter. On April 21, 1982, while she was in jail awaiting trial, D. S. was born to her. He suffered substantial medical problems necessitating hospitalization for the first weeks...
