Pursuant to his first assignment of error, defendant contends that the trial court erred in allowing Mike Beal, the Curtis Mathes store manager, to give inadmissible hearsay testimony as to ownership and value of the stolen television set and video recorder. The objected to testimony occurred in the following exchange:
