SACKETT, Judge.

Plaintiff Eldon Burr's wife suspected he was trying to kill her with poisoned candy. She took the candy to the local police department, which took the candy to the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory in Des Moines. The local police talked to an employee of the DCI, Defendant James Dahlgran, and left the candy with Dahlgran to analyze.
