On December 24, 1977, Marion Bracy was admitted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center (USAMC) for gunshot wounds. He was discharged on January 2, 1978. Services rendered by USAMC amounted to $4,018.91. After various payments, Bracy reduced the amount owed to $2,508.91. USAMC sued Bracy for the balance and after a trial in district court, an appeal was taken to the Mobile...
