The defendant-appellant, Bret Ewing, also known as Bret Esau, age 17, was charged in the county court for Merrick County, Nebraska, with false reporting "with the intent ... to impede the investigation of an actual criminal matter" in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-907(1)(a) (Cum.Supp.1984).
