Defendant, Robert Earl Coon, age 30, was charged with distribution of marijuana in violation of LSA-R.S. 40:966, which carries a maximum penalty of imprisonment at hard labor for ten years and a $15,000 fine. Pursuant to plea negotiations between the defendant's appointed counsel and the State of Louisiana, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to attempted distribution of marijuana.
