The defendant was charged in the first part of an indictment with the crime of sexual assault in the first degree in violation of § 53a-70 of the General Statutes.1 He was tried by a jury and found guilty. The defendant was also charged in the second part of the indictment with being a persistent dangerous felony offender under § 53a-40 of the General Statutes.2 The subsequent court trial...
