On August 20, 1984, Keith Joseph Lyles, appellant, was convicted by a jury in the Circuit Court for Washington County, of battery. The incident arose out of an altercation, at the Maryland Correctional Institute in Hagerstown, in which an inmate received superficial multiple stab wounds.
