In their first two issues presented on appeal the petitioners argue that (1) the superior court should have remanded the case back to the board of adjustment for findings of fact with regard to the denial of the variance request, and (2) the superior court should have compelled respondent to grant the requested variances. We disagree. G.S. 160A-388(d) provides:
