Patrick J. Alfiero sustained a spinal cord injury resulting in complete and permanent paraplegia by virtue of an accident which occurred while he was driving a dump truck leased to his employer, Empire Steel Castings, Inc., by Berks Mutual Leasing Company (hereinafter "Berks").
