LYNCH, J.

The defendant's postconviction motions to withdraw a guilty plea and to correct his sentence were denied by two Superior Court judges. We allowed the defendant's application for direct appellate review.

The defendant claims that he agreed to plead guilty to several crimes because of a mistaken assumption that he would be eligible for parole after completing one-third of the minimum sentence imposed. The defendant also argues that it was prejudicial...
