The defendant, Eddie Maxwell, was found guilty after a jury trial of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery. The trial court vacated the convictions of the latter two offenses and sentenced the defendant to an extended term of 40 years' imprisonment for attempted murder. The defendant appeals, contending that the State failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt...
