On November 30, 1977, the trial court entered an order dissolving the marriage of Beverly Ann Bartlett, the claimant, and Cornelius Bartlett. Pursuant to a settlement agreement, the trial court ordered Cornelius Bartlett to pay the claimant the sum of $500 per month "as maintenance" for a period of 10 years.
