PADGETT, Justice.

This is an appeal from a conviction of first degree rape in violation of HRS § 707-730(1)(a)(i), sodomy in the first degree in violation of HRS § 707-733(1)(a)(i), two counts of kidnapping in violation of HRS § 707-720(1)(c), and robbery in the second degree in violation of HRS § 708-841(1)(b). Appellant raises two basic claims.

We see no merit in the claim that the court improperly...
