The Supreme Court's decision in Firefighters Local Union No. 1784 v. Stotts, ___ U.S. ___, 104 S.Ct. 2576, 81 L.Ed.2d 483 (1984), has prompted the United States to file a motion for a prospective modification of a remedial hiring decree filed by the court on November 23, 1979.
