Gerome Gray was employed by Alumax Extrusions, Inc., at its Hernando plant, under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement between Alumax and Local No. 204 of the Aluminum Workers International Union. On December 5, 1979, he suffered a broken foot in a forklift accident. Thereafter he went to Methodist South Hospital in Memphis, where he was treated by Dr. Henry T. Stratton, a bone specialist.
