WISDOM, Circuit Judge:

Some years ago a truck driven by Willie Hawkins ran over a drum which had bounced out of another vehicle in front of Hawkins's truck. He was injured when he inhaled the fumes of a dangerous poison that leaked from the drum. He brought suit against the company transporting the drums, its insurer, and the manufacturer of the poisonous substance.
