Appellant Richard Holmes was arrested on March 11, 1978 and charged by bill of information with two counts of armed robbery, LSA-R.S. 14:64, and with one count of attempted first-degree murder, LSA-R.S. 14:27 and 14:30. He waived formal arraignment and pled not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity on all counts. The first sanity commission convened in November 1978 and recommended that Holmes was competent to proceed. By November 1979, however...
