Appellant Richard Holmes was arrested on March 11, 1978 and charged by bill of information with two counts of armed robbery, LSA-R.S. 14:64, and with one count of attempted first-degree murder, LSA-R.S. 14:27 and 14:30. He waived formal arraignment and pled not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity on all counts.
