Two year-old Byron Hickson died from complications accompanying meningitis and meningococcemia, diseases which affect membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. His mother took him to two hospitals in Terrell, but the child received no therapeutic treatment until he was transferred to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
