Plaintiff Sharon Steel Corporation brought this diversity action against defendant Lakeshore, Inc. when a mining sheave wheel shaft used in plaintiff's business broke. Plaintiff's corporate predecessor had purchased this product from defendant. A district court jury answered specific interrogatories and imposed liability on defendant on theories of strict liability and negligence, finding total damages of $267,210.
