Appellant was tried in the Shelby Circuit Court under a single indictment charging him with the offenses of first degree escape, first degree burglary, first degree robbery, first degree unlawful imprisonment, and theft by unlawful taking. He was also charged as a first degree persistent felony offender. On the day of trial, he entered a plea of guilty to the theft charge and was tried on the remaining substantive charges.
