This is a civil action brought by Linda Hornsby against her employer, Southland Corporation, claiming breach of contract to provide and maintain safe working conditions. The defendant's petition for certiorari was granted following the trial justice's denial of its motion to dismiss on the ground that the Workers' Compensation Act provides the plaintiff's exclusive remedy.
