Shirley Maillian was indicted by a grand jury on August 31, 1983, charged with second degree murder of her estranged husband, Ronnie Maillian, a violation of L.S. A.-R.S. 14:30.1. Maillian pled not guilty and, after a jury trial, was found guilty of the responsive verdict of manslaughter, a violation of L.S.A.-R.S. 14:31.
