The sole issue on this appeal is whether the defendant's sentence was excessive.

Anthony Bowman, defendant, was indicted by a grand jury and charged with aggravated rape in violation of La.R.S. 14:42. At the request of the rape victim, who wished to avoid the ordeal of a trial, defendant was allowed to plead guilty to the amended charge of forcible rape, a violation of La. R.S. 14:42.1.
