The defendant, Elvis Morgan, was charged with four counts of simple burglary in violation of La.R.S. 14:62. The defendant pled not guilty, waived a jury trial and, after a trial by judge, was found guilty as charged. The defendant discharged his court-appointed counsel and secured a retained counsel. Retained counsel filed a motion for a new trial alleging the defendant did not knowingly and intelligently waive his right to trial by jury and ineffective...
