OPINION

OSBORN, Justice.

This case involves traveler's checks which were purchased in Iran and lost in New York. We reverse and remand.

About the time of the Shah's abdication in 1979, Azizollah Rowhanian left Iran and came with his daughter to the United States. Prior to his trip, he purchased $9,500.00 in traveler's checks in his name. He also purchased $20,100.00 in traveler's checks from street brokers. Since it was illegal to leave the country...
