This is a suit to recover damages for fire loss from the insurer. The plaintiff, A & E Supply Company, Incorporated (A & E), seeks both compensatory and punitive damages. Originally instituted in Buchanan County, Virginia, this diversity action was removed before the Virginia Supreme Court announced its decision in Kamlar Corp. v. Haley, 224 Va. 699, 299 S.E.2d 514
