In this diversity case the district court denied a motion filed by Universal Life Church, Inc., for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and entered judgment on a jury verdict finding the church liable for fraud in representing that church ministers could perform valid marriages in North Carolina. The plaintiff, Sandra Lynch, was awarded $10,000 in compensatory damages for emotional anguish...
