At 8:30 p.m., on the evening of September 5, 1983, approximately one hour after dark, ten-year-old Mathew Wilmot was driving his Honda three-wheeled, all-terrain vehicle ("ATV") on the westbound shoulder of Trenton-Franklin Road. Young Wilmot's cousin was riding as a passenger on the ATV. James Manning was proceeding in the same direction on Trenton-Franklin Road, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
