BRYNER, Chief Judge.

In the present case, we must determine whether a person charged with attempted kidnapping is entitled to assert a partial defense when the intended victim of the crime is voluntarily released unharmed.

Ronald Laraby was convicted of one count of attempted kidnapping, in violation of AS 11.31.100(a) and AS 11.41.300(a).1 The evidence at trial established that Laraby accosted his victim, J.P...
