Following a nonjury trial, Kevin Johnson was convicted of the first degree murder of his infant son, Kevin, Jr. His conviction was affirmed by the Iowa Supreme Court, State v. Johnson, 318 N.W.2d 417 (Iowa 1982). Johnson subsequently filed a habeas corpus petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2254.
