On December 3, 1980, Plaintiff, a brittle, Type 1, blind diabetic, traveled on a Greyhound Bus from Machias, Maine to Portland, Maine. He wore a Medic-Alert necklace identifying himself as a blind diabetic who had recently received a kidney transplant.
