The defendant appeals from his convictions of murder in the first degree, armed robbery, and the unlawful carrying of a firearm. The victim was shot and killed on December 3, 1978, in a motor vehicle in Somerville.

In the spring of 1981, one Francis X. Holmes, Jr., who had been arrested for another crime, told the police that he had been an accomplice of the defendant in committing the crimes in 1978. Holmes ultimately testified as an immunized...
