At its 1981 regular session, the Louisiana Legislature added a new sub-part to Louisiana's "General School Law," applicable to all public secondary and elementary schools, entitled "BALANCED TREATMENT FOR CREATION-SCIENCE AND EVOLUTION-SCIENCE IN PUBLIC SCHOOL INSTRUCTION."
