OPINION

RANDALL, Judge.

Penny Goodale and her mother, Shirley Krueger, brought this action against David Nordstrom alleging that his negligence caused the car he was driving to strike Goodale and the horse she was leading. The jury which heard the case returned a verdict finding 70 percent contributory negligence, and found special damages to be $5,500 and general damages to be $5000.
