DUFRESNE, Judge.

Richard J. Vinet was indicted under R.S. 14:30.1, second degree murder for the killing of a hitchhiker. Following trial, the jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged and the defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. This appeal followed.

The defendant now urges two assignments of error.
