This is an appeal from the denial of plaintiff-appellant's motion to vacate summary judgments for defendant-appellees in an action to recover for property damage from a fire. The trial court had granted the summary judgments because of appellant's failure to file timely oppositions. The motions judge subsequently denied without a hearing the motion to vacate, ruling that counsel's proffered reason for the default—his own careless failure...
